Dutch Parliament agrees 2008 tax plan for packaging

Dutch packaging companies will work under a new structure from this year. The Lower House (Tweede Kamer) and Upper House of the Dutch Parliament have agreed the tax plan for 2008, which includes a new packaging tax as well as other "green" taxes. Instead of paying fees direct to industry organisation Nedvang, now officially the new scheme to work on behalf of the Dutch packaging sector (see next story), businesses pay fees direct to the finance ministry, with the tax authorities administering the system. Nedvang will not collect the fees either.
