Retailers across Europe face barriers to store energy efficiency despite their efforts to make energy savings, according to the first "issue paper" to emerge from the controversial Retail Forum.rnSet up under the European Commission's Sustainable Consumption and Production Action Plan, the Retail Forum is designed to allow retailers to green up their sector through voluntary measures rather than by having legislation imposed from above. The Commission is treating the Forum as a pilot for other sectors and this first issue paper was eagerly awaited as an example of what could be achieved.
