Commission brings forward EFSA fees report

The European Commission is aiming to bring forward the report on the feasibility and advisability of fees for authorisation work at EFSA from October of next year to July.rnCommission officials say the date originally set in the legislation for evaluating the feasibility of EFSA fees - 2005 - was too early to allow a fullrnunderstanding of the Authority's functioning and that postponing the report to the European Parliament will allow all the relevant information to be considered.rnThe European Parliament is threatening to put five per cent of the Health and Consumer Protection Directorate DG SANCO's budget in reserve for 2010 until it delivers the report, originally foreseen for March 2005 in the Regulation 178/2002 (see EE&PL last week) after concerns that the Commission was not planning to present the report until next October.
