China backs sustainable palm oil to save rainforests

In a bid to boost efforts to halt tropical deforestation, more support for sustainable palm oil will be provided by major China-based producers and users of the substance, it was announced on 9 July.rnThe public statement, made at this month's 2nd International Oil and Fats Summit in Beijing, committed the companies to "support the promotion, procurement and use of sustainable palm oil in China," as well as "support the production of sustainable palm oil through any investments in producing countries."
