Commission Industry Bias Claim Over Energy Label Change

The European Commission is bowing to industry pressure over proposed changes to the energy labelling scheme, according to consumer groups, Green MEPs and environmental NGOs. The Commission's energy directorate general DG TREN is planning to propose revising the existing A-G criteria - "A" being most energy efficient and "G" being least, into a new system of numbers and letters, which would allow more grades to be added to represent the scale of efficiency. A concept which the groups and party say is far too confusing for consumers.
