EU adopts regulation adapting REACH to CLP

A regulation updating the REACH chemicals legislation to bring it in line with the sister law on classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals (CLP) will take effect on 20 June after being published in the EU Official Journal this week(OJ L 133 of 31.5.2010).rnThe CLP aligns EU laws on the classification of hazardous chemicals with international rules on the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) of classification. The aim is to ease international trade in chemicals while ensuring safety worldwide by avoiding accidents that could come from having a substance classed as one thing in one region and something else in another.
