MEPs put forward close to 300 amendments on WEEE

The European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee is heading for a lively debate on the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) directive on 6 April as MEPs have put forward some 273 amendments to the draft report from German Christian Democrat Karl-Heinz Florenz.rnFlorenz himself is responsible for a good many of the amendments to the Commission proposal to update the 2003 WEEE directive. In his report he complains that although WEEE is being collected but there is incorrect reporting even when the waste is treated properly. This opens the door to illegal shipments and processing practices.
