MEPs seek more Commission contact on implementing laws

Members of the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee last week agreed that they wanted the Commission to keep them in the loop on all work involving implementing measures to be adopted under new comitology procedures.rnThe Committee was discussing a draft opinion from its Chair, German Socialist MEP Jo Leinen, on a future Parliament resolution on implementing powers under the Lisbon Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The Legal Affairs Committee has the lead, but since many implementing measures fall under ENVI's remit, it is drawing up a secondary opinion.
