Member states have approved European Commission proposals to revise the registry system underpinning the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) to make it more standardised and secure.The main aim of the revision is from 2012 to bring the aviation sector into the EU ETS and to move allowances from national registries to the new registry. The revision also addresses the recent "cyber fraud" (see EE&PL: February 10, 2010, p10) by including measures allowing countries to combat such criminal activities.
