New report recommends waste implementation agency

Creating a new European body, i.e. an EU Agency for waste implementation, will be the most effective way of carrying out recommendations on enforcement, training and updating EU waste legislation. That is the message of a European Commission study released this week.rnHowever the Commission, as last year (see EE&PL: September 18, 2009, p5-6), when DG Environment's Klaus Kogler said that a Waste Implementation Agency was "not necessarily the way forward", is still hesitant to say that this Agency will actually become a reality. Instead it calls it just one of the options.
