EFSA tightens post-market monitoring of biotech crops

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued new guidelines on monitoring biotech crop varieties for adverse environmental effects once they are licensed for cultivation, our sister publication Agra Europe reports.The Post-market Environmental Monitoring (PMEM) report, which updates EFSA's 2006 guidelines, was deemed necessary in response to the recent change in the EU's Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) rules, which link closely with PMEM.
