France is planning to regulate waste furniture through a draft decree that it has notified to the European Commission.The draft, which is now on standstill until 9 November to give the Commission and other member states time to comment, establishes the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR) making manufacturers responsible for prevention and management of waste furniture.Producers would have to organise the collection, removal and treatment of furniture at the end of its life. But when furniture carries a store brand name then it is the retailer that would be responsible.
