Ireland: Energy efficiency to form climate policy focus

Increasing carbon taxes and making buildings more energy efficient should be key to Ireland's climate policy, a study has claimed. According to a new report by the National Economic and Social Council (NESC). commissioned by Irish Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan, implementing some far reaching policy actions is the only way to ensure that Ireland reaches its 2020 emission reduction targets without resorting to buying carbon credits.
