Belgium: Flanders to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent in 2020

Flemish Minister for Environment Joke Schauvliege has announced plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent by 2020. In an interview with Belgian Newspaper De Standaard on 5 March, she said she intends to present the target, part of the Flemish Climate Plan, at the end of the year. Schauvliege explained that as Minister for Environment she has increased the pressure on her colleagues in the fight against carbon dioxide. However she herself has not yet come up with any concrete plans to reduce greenhouse gases, as she believes the ideas should come from other ministers.
