Key committee votes to sign off EU agencies' 2011 accounts

A key European Parliament committee has voted to grant discharge to five EU agencies for their 2011 accounts, despite proposed amendments from one MEP designed to see discharge denied to all of them. Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee voted last week to back a series of reports from German Socialist Jutta Haug granting discharge to the executive directors of all five - the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the European Environment Agency (EEA), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
