The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) called on the European Commission not to increase the 5 per cent cut its made to its budget, ECHA told its management board meeting at the end of last month. "Cuts going beyond the 5 per cent already foreseen in the multi-annual work programme would mean that ECHA could not deliver as foreseen," the Agency concluded after the 26-27 September meeting. Considering the "staffing uncertainties" of ECHA, some Board members asked ECHA to "reflect on realistic and reasonable objectives for the coming years, focusing on core legal obligations and managing the business in the framework of the budgetary constraints."
