Israel set to phase out single use plastic bags

Under the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection plan, multi-use plastic bags will soon be distributed for free over several months, after which the use of single plastic bags will be banned. The decision to phase out single use plastic bags came after a survey found that Israel uses 2.2 billion of them per year - more than half of which are distributed by grocery stores and supermarket chains.
