MEPs meeting at the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg last week voted to limit the noise from cars in a bid to protect public health. However, while MEPs recommended introducing labels to inform consumers about new cars' noise levels and adding sound to hybrid and electric cars to alert pedestrians at the February meeting, green transport group Transport and the Environment (T&E) said that the draft text was weak, particularly with regards to noise limits from sport cars and trucks.
