MEPs back clampdown on illegal waste shipments

In its last major vote on an environmental proposal during this legislature, the European Parliament's plenary on 17 April backed a deal struck with Council to tighten up EU waste shipment rules, particularly to close current loopholes. The vote mirrored that taken in Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee last month (see EE&PL: March 26, 2014, p4-5) in supporting the revision to the 2006 waste shipments regulation (WSR- 1013/2006).
