MEPs demand action and targets for plastics waste

The plastic bag came under the spotlight yet again this week, as the European Parliament adopted a report calling for mandatory targets to reduce them. The report on a 'European strategy on plastic waste in the environment' from Italian Socialist Vittorio Prodi called for the most hazardous plastics and certain plastic bags to be banned by 2020, as well as for binding plastic waste recycling targets.
