Epa Expects To Meet Deadline For Rule On Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The Environmental Protection Agency can still meet a June 26, 2009, deadline to finalize a greenhouse gas reporting rule, even though it has yet to release a proposal and the matter still is under review at the White House Office of Management and Budget, the official overseeing the proposal said Dec. 3.rnDina Kruger, director of EPA's Climate Change Division, told reporters, 'we continue to eye the clock,' but said EPA will be able to finish the rule unless a proposal is delayed until well into 2009.rnEPA missed the legal deadline of Sept. 26 contained in fiscal year 2008 omnibus appropriations bill (Pub. L. No. 110-161) approved by Congress in December 2007. The law requires EPA to finalize a rule by June 2009.
