摘要

Southern California air quality officials adopted new requirements Dec. 4 for maintaining and operating devices installed at 1,500 facilities in the Los Angeles area to control direct emissions of particulates.rnThe new rule applies to industrial plants equipped with baghouses or other filtration control units.rnThe South Coast Air Quality Management District said nearly 5,000 such control devices are installed at facilities within its jurisdiction, mostly involved in the manufacture of nonmetallic mineral products, fabricated metal products, petroleum and coal products, and chemicals.rnBy April 1, 2010, no visible emissions can be observed from any SCAQMD permitted particulate control device, according to the new rule.rnRule 1155 requires each facility to have on staff at least one employee capable of monitoring visible emissions.
