EPA Increases Energy Efficiency Level For TVs to Qualify for Energy Star Program

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Sept. 3 that it is increasing the level of energy efficiency that a television set must achieve to qualify for an Energy Star label, which identifies products whose efficiency exceeds minimum standards.rnUnder the new specifications, televisions must be 40 percent more efficient than conventional models to qualify for the Energy Star label. The new Version 4.0 will take effect May 1, 2010, replacing Version 3.0, the agency said.
