House and Senate panels have each moved legislation to appropriate fiscal year 2010 funds for the Department of Energy's nuclear waste cleanup and disposal programs.rnThe House bill would appropriate $33.3 billion in total to the Energy Department, with $5.8 billion of it devoted to nuclear waste cleanup and disposal. Most of that-$5.4 billion-would go to the Environmental Management program. The amount is about $114 million less than requested in the president's fiscal 2010 budget proposal.
