Industrial Pollutants in North America Totaled 5.5 Million Metric Tons in 2005

Releases and transfers of pollutants by North American industries totaled 5.5 million metric tons in 2005, with 90 percent of the total attributable to just 30 substances from 15 industrial sectors, according to data released June 10 by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) in its annual Taking Stock report.
