Applicants For Water Funds In Stimulus Must Contact Individual States, Epa Says

Sewage treatment and drinking water utilities seeking infrastructure funding under the stimulus legislation should apply to their individual states using the same process they use for typical revolving loan funds, an Environmental Protection Agency spokeswoman told BNA Feb. 18.rn"It's going to be like it normally is. They apply through their states. The procedures will not differ," said EPA spokeswoman Enesta Jones.rnClean water state revolving fund and drinking water state revolving fund capitalization grants will be distributed in accordance with the current allotment formulas, Jones said.rnThe clean water state revolving fund uses the statutory allotment percentages, and the drinking water state revolving fund uses the allotment formula based on a 2003 needs survey, which is valid for fiscal year 2006 through fiscal year 2009 funds, EPA said.rnThe stimulus package includes $6 billion for both funds-$4 billion for the clean water fund and $2 billion for drinking water treatment.
