Final Rule on Greenhouse Gas Reporting Targets Methane From Oil, Gas Wells

A final rule announced Nov. 9 by the Environmental Protection Agency will require the oil and natural gas industry to monitor and report emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases from wells and related facilities.rnThe reporting requirements for oil and natural gas systems encompass onshore petroleum and natural gas production, offshore petroleum and natural gas production, onshore natural gas processing, natural gas transmission compression, underground natural gas storage, liquefied natural gas storage, and liquid natural gas import and export. In addition to methane, the rule requires reporting of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions.
