Federal trustees of the Gulf Coast's natural resources told reporters Oct. 21 that their job of assessing the damage and developing plans to restore resources injured by the Gulf oil spill is progressing well "at no cost to the American taxpayer."Cynthia Dohner, director for the Southeast region of the Interior Department's Fish and Wildlife Service, and Bob Haddad, chief of assessment and restoration in NOAA's office of response and restoration, provided an update on the natural resource damage assessment (NRDA), the regulatory process to determine the type and amount of restoration needed to compensate the public for harm to natural resources as a result of Gulf oil spill.
