Bill Would Prohibit Export of Non-Working Electronic Goods to Developing Countries

Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) introduced a bill (H.R. 6252) Sept. 29 to stop the dumping of electronic waste in developing countries by prohibiting exports to countries that are not part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development or the European Union.rnThe Responsible Electronics Recycling Act would create a new section of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act that would establish a category of "restricted electronic waste." Green's bill was cosponsored by Reps. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) and John Carter (R-Texas).
