摘要

El Dorado County, Calif., has agreed to spend $7 million to clean up and cap a municipal waste dump once operated on federal forest lands near South Lake Tahoe, under a settlement the Department of Justice announced June 29 (United States v. El Dorado County, Calif., E.D. Cal., No. 01-cv-1520, partial consent decree lodged 6/28/10).rnLodged in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California June 28, the proposed partial consent decree resolves some of the federal claims filed against the county in 2001 under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. The agreement also settles certain counter-claims by the county against the federal government.
