San francisco-The San Francisco Board of Supervisors June 22 approved a measure requiring retailers to post radiation levels for wireless telephones, sending the bill to a receptive Mayor Gavin Newsom, who sponsored the legislation.rnThe 10-1 vote makes San Francisco the first city in the nation to require posting of specific absorption rate (SAR) values at the point of sale, turning the city into either a good example or a warning of what is to come as wireless phones increasingly are found in the hands of children to the elderly.rn"I think this is very much the beginning of something that I think will probably sweep the country and go to the federal level, and it probably should," said Renee Sharp, director of the California office of the Environmental Working Group.
