Hundreds of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants have replaced extremely hazardous substances with safer, more secure chemicals pr processes, the Center for American Progress said in releasing a survey March 2.rnAccording to the survey, 554 drinking water and wastewater treatment plants in 47 states and the District of Columbia have accomplished this, but at least 2,600 drinking water and wastewater facilities still use large amounts of chlorine gas, the center said.
