Health Groups Tell EPA to Set Standards For Ground-Level Ozone at Strictest Level

Environmental and public health advocates were near-unanimous Feb. 2 in urging the Environmental Protection Agency to adopt the strictest air quality standard for ozone from the range of levels proposed by the agency, but several industry groups warned that the regulations could stifle economic growth. EPA took comments at a public hearing on its proposed rule to revise the national ambient air quality standards for ozone that were set in 2008 by the Bush administration.
