EPA Orders Arkansas Officials to Consider Coal Gasification Technology at Power Plant

The Environmental Protection Agency ordered the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality to consider requiring cleaner-burning gasification technology as part of a permit issued to a coal-fired power plant, but it rejected several other objections raised by environmental groups, according to a notice published in the Federal Register Jan. 14 (75 Fed.
