Net Solar Exports Total $1.9 Billion in 2010, Up 73 Percent, According to Industry Study

Net exports of solar energy products from the United States totaled $1.9 billion in 2010, an increase of 73 percent over 2009's net export value of nearly $1.1 billion, according to a report released Aug. 29 by the Solar Energy Industries Association. According to the trade group's U.S. Solar Energy Trade Assessment 2011, exports of solar energy products totaled $5.6 billion. The largest export product, valued at $2.5 billion, was polysilicon, the feedstock for crystalline silicon photovoltaics (PV).
