Lawsuit Challenging McDonald's Packaging Dismissed for Plaintiff's Lack of Standing

A federal court Aug. 19 rejected for lack of standing a lawsuit brought against McDonald's Corp. by an individual claiming the company's food packaging contains chemicals that harm the environment when they are discarded by customers (Gencarelli v. Mc Donald's Corp., N.D. 111., No. 11-C-5573, 8/19/11). Judge Harry D. Leinenweber of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois found that plaintiff James Gencarelli lacked standing to sue be cause he alleged only "a generalized grievance."
