NRDC Releases Online Mapping Tool Tracking Health Risks of Climate Change

The Natural Resources Defense Council released an online mapping tool Aug. 3 designed to help states and communities develop adaptation plans to address health risks posed by climate change. The tool, called "Climate Change Threatens Health," was developed using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Climatic Data Center, and other sources. It maps the average number of days of low and high water flow and extreme heat from 2000 to 2009, as well as high levels of ozone-related smog from 2002 to 2006.
