EPA Issues Final Pump Labeling Rule For Fuel Blends Over 10 Percent Ethanol

The Environmental Protection Agency released a final rule June 28 requiring gasoline sellers to clearly label pumps containing fuel with more than 10 percent ethanol content. The labels are intended to indicate which pumps offer the E15 blend (15 percent ethanol) and to warn customers about which vehicles are considered incompatible with E15, including older cars and light trucks, motorcycles, watercraft, and other equipment that uses gasoline such as lawn mowers and chain saws. The rule also prohibits the use of blends above 10 percent ethanol in vehicles, engines, or equipment incompatible with higher blends.
