The Energy Department announced June 9 it was offering a conditional commitment to provide a partial guarantee for a $350 million loan for a geothermal power generation project in Nevada. The project, sponsored by Ormat Nevada Inc., is expected to produce a total of 121 megawatts of power from three geothermal facilities in Pershing and Lander counties and Tuscarora, the department said.
