State Agency Petitions EPA to Rescind Finding for Numeric Nutrient Standards

Florida's Department of Environmental Protection has filed a petition with the Environmental Protection Agency seeking to rescind the agency's January 2009 determination that numeric nutrient standards for water quality were necessary for the state's waters, Gov. Rick Scott (R) announced April 22. In a statement, Scott said the petition asked that EPA withdraw the determination before any further action is taken by the agency "to propose, promulgate or implement" numeric nutrient criteria in Florida.
