Quebec, Alberta Consider Piping Oil Sands Crude to Refineries in Eastern Canada

Ottawa-governments in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Quebec have agreed to investigate the environmental and economic feasibility of transporting crude oil by pipeline from the western oil sands region to refineries in eastern Canada, Quebec Premier Pauline Marois said Nov. 22.The governments will create a working group of senior provincial environment, natural resources, and finance officials to review the potential for moving oil sands crude to refineries in Quebec and possibly Atlantic Canada, Marois told reporters after talking with Alberta Premier Alison Redford on the margins of a two-day meeting of provincial premiers in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
