摘要

The Coca-Cola Co. will build a large facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to make the major ingredient in its plant-based plastic bottles, the company said Sept. 27. The production plant will be the world's largest facility for making monoethylene glycol, also known as bioglycol or bMEG, according to Katherine Schermer-horn, a spokeswoman for Coca-Cola. The facility is part of the company's plan to ramp up production of PlantBottle plastic, which contains 30 percent plant-based material by weight. Coca-Cola has committed to making all of its plastic bottles from plant-based materials by 2020.
