Environmental Groups Sue EPA Over Failure To Review Refinery Air Toxics Standards

Environmental and community groups are suing the Environmental Protection Agency over its failure to review air toxics standards for petroleum refineries as required by the Clean Air Act (Air Alliance Houston v. Jackson, D.D.C., No. 12-1607, complaint filed 9/27/12). EPA must review and possibly revise national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants every eight years. EPA set standards for petroleum refineries under two subparts, which the agency has not reviewed since promulgating them in 1995 and 2002, according to a complaint filed Sept. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
