Three environmental groups filed a petition Sept. 11 calling on the Bureau of Land Management to require oil and gas companies operating on public lands to reduce emissions of methane gas. "As climate change heats up our planet, many companies still don't bother to control methane emissions from fracking and drilling on public lands," said Kassie Siegel, director of the Center for Biological Diversity's Climate Law Institute, one of the petitioning groups.
