Chemistry, Building Groups Form Coalition To Promote Green Building Ratings Systems

The American Chemistry Council, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers, and 24 other organizations have formed a coalition to promote development of green building ratings systems, the coalition said July 18. The American High-Performance Buildings Coalition will work with policymakers, lawmakers, building code officials, and green building ratings system purveyors, according to Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for ACC and a member of the coalition. Russell spoke during a telephone press conference July 18. The new organization also will seek to raise awareness about green building products made by its members, Russell said.
