EPA Proposes Revisions to Standards For Stationary Combustion Turbines

The Environmental Protection Agency announced proposed revisions June 25 to the emissions performance standards for stationary combustion turbines in response to a 2006 petition for reconsideration from a power plant industry group. The proposed rule would exempt some combustion turbines from the performance standards, provided they comply with emissions limits under other provisions of the Clean Air Act. Other proposed revisions would clarify when the performance standards apply and correct technical errors in the rule. EPA said the proposed revisions, which were signed June 22 by Administrator Lisa Jackson, would not result in new emissions reductions or increase compliance costs for affected facilities.
