Secretary Clinton to Head U.S. Delegation to Rio Summit on Sustainable Development

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will lead the U.S. delegation to the upcoming U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, and President Obama will not attend, the State Department announced June 12. The June 20-22 conference, also known as Rio+20, marks the 20th anniversary of the 1992 U.N. Conference on Environment and Development, or Earth Summit, that resulted in treaties on climate change, desertification, and biodiversity.
