EPA Says All Bay States Making Progress, Quality of Drafts on Nutrient Reduction Vary

The District of Columbia and the six states sharing the Chesapeake Bay watershed are all making headway toward meeting pollution-reduction goals for the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, according to Environmental Protection Agency evaluations of the latest cleanup plans. The evaluations, sent to the jurisdictions Feb. 15 a nd posted publicly Feb. 17, came as EPA, the states, and the District work toward a March 30 deadline for finalizing detailed plans for reducing nutrient and sediment loading to the bay and its tidal tributaries in 2012 and 2013.
