House Republicans Press Regulators To Move Faster on Yucca Licensing Review

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission should move faster on the licensing process for the stalled Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage site, House Republicans told commission members at a Dec. 12 oversight hearing. NRC Chairman Allison Macfarlane told lawmakers the commission is acting "expeditiously" to comply with an August federal court order to restart the licensing process. But she added, "We do not have sufficient funds to complete the license review."
