Satton Sea Restoration Not Fully Funded, Costs Not Known, Auditor's Report Says

California has not fully funded a mitigation plan for the Salton Sea, and its related costs for the future remain unknown, a state auditor's report said. Released Nov. 21, the report recommended legislation that will set a deadline for submitting an anticipated restoration feasibility study with measures that could reduce the costs of mitigation later. A request for the audit was made by Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez (D) in January and approved in March by the Joint Legislative Audit Committee (44 ER 865, 3/22/13).
